Dreaming To Give

“You must each decide in your heart how much to GIVE. And don’t GIVE reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who GIVES cheerfully.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:7
‬

“When you do
something for someone else, don’t call attention to yourself. You’ve seen them in action, I’m sure—‘playactors’ I call them—treating prayer meeting and street corner alike as a stage, acting compassionate as long as someone is watching, playing to the crowds. They get applause, true, but that’s all they get. When you help someone out, don’t think about how it looks. Just do it—quietly and unobtrusively. That is the way your God, who conceived you in love, working behind the scenes, helps you out.” ‭Matthew‬ ‭6:2-4‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I’m going to leave this right here and let it marinate into your soul. “Dream of what you can give instead of get, and see how much further you can go.”

Okay, has it marinated enough yet? A lot of us strive for more. With that desire to strive for more, to Pursue our Passions, we sometimes Dream of what could happen when we get to the place we are striving and Pursuing. In those Dreams we picture all the stuff we can get. The fun toys we can play with, the more famous it can make us with people of importance, and the assurance of having all our bills payed. Which is great when you reach the goals you set and receive what you want. Right? HOORAY FOR YOU!!

But I want to challenge you today, instead of dreaming what you can get, Dream of what you can Give!  When you strive and pursue your goals to get get get, it only takes you so far. You can’t take any of what you get for yourself with you when you die. But, if you go beyond the Get mentality and take on the Give
mindset, generations are changed. Imagine a world changed through what you gave. One way to do this is lining up your Passion with Compassion.

One thing I strive to do here at the EEA Network is line up our Passion with Compassion. Passion is defined as a "strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire for anything."" We are told by some to "follow your Passion, go after what you love to do." It's an awesome feeling to find your true Passion, to find what you were meant to do. But, once you find it, some stop looking for more, striving for more of what God is calling us to do. God called us through His Son to reach out and serve others. We can do that by lining up what we desire and love to do, with our love for others.

In the New Testament, Jesus was moved with Compassion many times and used that to heal, save, and touch those around Him.
Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” Mark 1:41.  How can you make your Compassion flourish? It can be the uniqueness you see in others around you. Instead of looking at yourself all the time, look around you. Look at those around you and see their uniqueness. God has created each of us with a uniqueness, a uniqueness that says "I am Worth something". It's the uniqueness I see in people that makes my Compassion flourish. See the worth in people around you so your Compassion will grow.

I challenge you today to find a need and fill it. Start today and see how much further you can go!
