Change of Perspective

Intro: Welcome to the Family Second Program. A Podcast that puts God back in the family where He belongs, first. We want to welcome all of you! We meaning me, my wife, and our 4shells. We believe you have value, because God made you that way and what He did for you. So, we want to speak into your life through this podcast/program to encourage and strengthen you and your family. All we ask is you receive his love and grace and share it with those around you. There is a lot my wife and I’ve seen in ministry and just in life as we’ve been on this journey, and we have come to the conclusion that everything we do should glorify God. That is why today we are talking about perspectives. What perspective in your life needs to change so that God gets all the glory? But before we dive in to that today, let me just say if you need prayer, encouragement, or to be strengthened you can contact us today at philip@philipshelley.org. You can also go to my blog at www.philipshelley.org
and be encouraged. We want to do everything we can to encourage the world today. Why do we do it, because Christ did it first and paid the ultimate price so we can be with Him in heaven one day. So please contact us, we are here you.

Equip:
Story of David and Goliath can teach us a lot about perspective. I’m going to read you the story and then break it down to help you get a perspective that glorifies God. 1 Samuel 17:1-11, 20-50. What is holding us from a change in our perspective?

Our Past.
1 Samuel 17:28. People will remind us of our past.
They’ve seen you in your sin, dysfunction, and issues. But look what David did.
He moved on. I think it’s time to move on and keep moving on. We can tell
people just keep on steppin, but remember that you need to keep steppin too.
Just keep going where God is leading you.

We don’t see what God sees!
1 Samuel 17:33. You are more than a conqueror. You can do all things through Christ. You are an overcomer because Christ has overcome the world (John 16:33).

Your Gift Brings Victory!
1 Samuel 34-37 God has given each and everyone of us gifts and talents to Glorify Him and when we use it to glorify Him, He brings us the victory. Are you using what He's given you for His glory?

Your Persistence creates opportunities that God uses to bring you the Victory and Him the Glory!
1 Samuel 17:34-37 There are things in our life that we’ve given up on because the world told us we weren’t good enough. What have you given up on? Who have you given up on? Don’t give up yet!

Cut out the Middle Man!
1 Samuel 17:8. Goliath was a Middle man for the Philistines. We use so called middle men in our life. We allow other people to take the lead on teaching our children or the ones we love instead of us taking the lead. It’s time for parents to start being who God has created you to be and take the lead in raising your Children.

Have you ever felt that Something has to happen Now. I need a breakthrough in my finances now. My family needs help right now. I need healing now. What has to happen now? Goliath had been doing this for 40 days, twice a day. 80 times he came out to taunt God’s Army. Do you feel taunted by the devil today? When it seems nothing is happening, you’ll never get what you’ve prayed for, or bad things just won’t end. He is telling you today, Don’t Quit!

Verse 37 says, The Lord who Rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will Rescue me from this Philistine! He Will RESCUE YOU!

Verse 38 and 39 says that Saul tried to give him his armor and weapons, but David was not used to them. That tells me they still had the same perspective. After you change your perspective, the world will still have theirs. Don’t worry! God has overcome the world.

Verse 42-44 says that when David went out to meet the Giant, the Giant laughed and sneered at David’s appearance. Remember this, When you are weak that’s when God is strong. And God fights for us.

Verse 45-47 David responds to Goliath’s criticism. What does He say? David gave his victory speech before he was physically victorious. Give the devil your victory speech, because spiritually you have the victory through Christ.

Verse 51 says David ran over and pulled Goliath’s sword and cut his head off. That’s my favorite part. But my question to you is, What perspective in your life needsto change so you can have complete victory? How do you make sure its dead? Cut its head off.

“My Perspective changes my situations outcome to Glorify God! If you want to change your situation, change your perspective and let God get all the Glory!

If we come to the point that we can’t or won’t change, we’ve lost the very essence of who God has created us to be.

Encounter: Why do we have an encounter? It’s not by our strength alone. Because it’s not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord. PRAY!

Activate:
1. Take an inventory of what thoughts and perspectives need to change, so your family can receive victory. Sometimes that means you have to change lifestyles, places you go, people you communicate with, Etc.
2  You change first before you expect your family to change or anyone else.
3. Give your victory speech everyday.
